Memphis Safe Task Force
Memphis, TN – The Memphis Safe Task Force on Tuesday executed 40 criminal arrests and seized six more illegal firearms.
Of note:
Mario Pierre Jackson, 40, was arrested at a hotel in the 600 block of Breedlove Street on warrants for felon in possession, three counts of burglary, aggravated burglary, evading arrest, theft of property, and evading arrest in a vehicle. Jackson has been a subject of interest for MSTF because of his alleged involvement in numerous home burglaries between October and December 2025, many of which garnered media attention and included home surveillance video footage.
Cortez Anderson, 24, was arrested at an apartment in the 4300 block of West Faronia Square on a warrant for aggravated assault. Upon seeing a firearm in plain view during his arrest, officers obtained a search warrant and found narcotics and three firearms. Anderson was further charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, three counts of felon in possession, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers recovered 127.7 grams of marijuana, a Glock 9 mm handgun, and two .38-caliber handguns.
Terrance Newsome, 27, was arrested in the 3200 block of Cromwell Road on warrants for criminal attempt first-degree murder, especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault and vandalism. Newsome is alleged to have shot at his girlfriend Jan. 17 while they were driving in separate vehicles, then gone to her house later that same day and assaulted her.
“The Task Force continues to stand shoulder to shoulder with our partners and arrest suspects who choose to terrorize Memphians,” said Tyreece Miller, U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Tennessee. “We are committed to the work of safer neighborhoods across this community.”
Since the launch of the Memphis Safe Task Force initiative, officers have made 5,457 arrests and seized 885 illegal firearms, as well as substantial quantities of narcotics, and related contraband. These enforcement actions reflect a sustained commitment to reducing violent crime and removing dangerous weapons from Memphis neighborhoods.
Launched in September 2025, the Memphis Safe Task Force is a multi-agency initiative to combat violent crime in Memphis. Composed of federal, state, and local law enforcement, as well as the Tennessee National Guard, the task force is focused on arresting violent criminals, clearing warrants, seizing firearms, and locating missing children. Since the operation began, the MSTF has located 148 missing children.
This operation reflects the Memphis Safe Task Force’s commitment to coordinated enforcement efforts and its mission to identify, apprehend, and hold accountable those who pose a threat to public safety.
